Seeing as I’m now the very proud owner of ‘Your Slimming & Cosmetic Clinic’ in Bournemouth, I thought it was about time I told you a little bit about myself – how I got here and how much I love what I’m doing. But most importantly, how I can help all of you who need to lose weight………so here goes.
I worked for ‘National Slimming & Cosmetic Clinics’ for 18 years. I loved the fact that NSC was a family-run business, and most importantly, one that cared so much about its patients. Their aim was to offer patients a weight-loss journey that was safe, easy, and effective. Sadly, however, this all changed when the company was sold in 2018. After being made redundant in February 2020 and with the onset of Covid-19 in March 2020 it spurred me on to go it alone, to set up my own slimming clinic and to do something that I am passionate about.
So fast forward to January 2021……….here I am, saying a very big ‘HELLO’ to all of you out there from ‘YOUR SLIMMING & COSMETIC CLINIC’. I chose the name as I wanted all of you to feel that it is your clinic, that you belong somewhere and that it’s not just another clinic that only offers consultations and treatments online. I wanted to open a clinic that cares about you, that wants to actually see you during your weight-loss journey, and one that provides you with all the encouragement, support and motivation you’ll need on a face-to-face level.
If there’s anyone out there who really does understand dieting, it yours truly! I understand every battle, every issue, every emotion, every negative thought associated with being overweight. I have yo-yo dieted for 20 years (currently very overweight and frustrated) and now I feel it’s my time to do something positive about it. My clinic, together with the help of my lovely team of doctors, can help all of you out there who are experiencing the same slimming issues as myself. We want to help turn the switch on inside your head that says ‘I can do this’
So, here are some guidelines that might help you. I call them, simply – ‘A Little Bit’
A Little Bit of Exercise
Aim to build up to between 10,000 and 20,000 steps per day (depending on your current fitness level). Start small and if it’s only 3,000 per day to start with, that’s fine. As long as you are moving more than you usually do, it will help, I promise. I can point you towards an excellent app which will help you achieve this. Remember, steps don’t have to literally mean ‘walking’ – any sort of movement helps. If you are sat at your desk you can simulate walking in your chair – your colleagues may look at you strangely but so what! Or when you are at home put some music on and twirl from room to room (you get the idea), when you are on your mobile pace around your home, play with the dog, your children etc. Honestly – you don’t have to be an athlete, you don’t have to go to the gym, you don’t have put yourself out in public if you don’t want to. If you do want to, fabulous, but you don’t HAVE to.
A Little Bit of Healthy Eating
Know the difference between what foods are healthy and what foods are not, and understand the reasons why. My team of doctors can help you with all of this.
A Little Bit of Treating Yourself Every Now and Then
Never think to yourself ‘that food is banned’ or ‘I can’t have that’. This has a negative impact on your brain and makes you want it all the more. Actually, yes you can have it, but moderation is absolutely key. It’s not going to spoil your weight loss – and remember, you’re the one in control here. If it goes haywire, OK, but remember to get back to your healthy eating straight away – don’t think ‘I’ll start again on Monday’ or ‘Tomorrow’ or whenever.
A Little Bit of Mental Preparation
We all know that unless we’re in the right frame of mind, it’s not going to work. We can discuss this in much more detail when you come to the clinic and then we can make sure you’re in the right mindset – it’s an absolute must if you are going to succeed (which you will by the way!) We can find an excuse for everything – believe me, I know, I’ve used them all……
A Little Bit of Help to Lessen Your Appetite
The make or break when losing weight is curbing those pesky hunger pangs, which in turn help you eat much more sensibly. If eligible, our team of doctors will prescribe you appetite suppressants to keep your hunger under control.
A LOT of Support, Motivation and Encouragement – all available from the team at Your Slimming & Cosmetic Clinic.
So……don’t let anything stand in your way. Call me, if only to talk about our experiences, successes and failures – I really don’t mind! Remember, we can do this together, it’s much easier that way and the earlier you start, the sooner you’ll get there. After lockdown, if you find it helps, I will run some small group sessions where everyone can chat about the good, the bad and the downright ugly.
After what has been such a gruelling year for so many of us, do something positive, do something for YOU. Book that holiday, knowing that you will look good and feel amazing. No shying away from family holiday photos this year! It’s your time – you deserve it and you CAN do it!!! Take that first step – you won’t be judged and you will be heard.
By this summer, some of you will have reached your destination already and some of you will be a good way along your journey.
How amazing is that?!
